New Painting

The painting continues. This one is on board which I've never used before. It was quite different from painting on paper and canvas.

It's called 'Towering Clouds' (8"x10" acrylic on board) and is based on a photograph hubby took on Tetiaroa, an atoll near the island of Tahiti. The atoll is most famous for being 'bought' by Marlon Brando. On our visit Tetiaroa in 2002 we met one of Mr. Brando's sons who lived there.

  1. Very nice! I really, really like this one. If I was decorating with an ocean theme instead of mountain/lodge, I would want to buy this one. I like that it represents a meaningful place you have visited. Interesting celebrity connection too. Are you going to sell it or hang it in your home by the beach?

Did you enjoy painting on board vs paper? Do you plan to do more painting on board?

  2. Thank you. At the moment it is hanging at home but it is for sale as well.

I think I have to paint some more on board to decide if I like it or not. I thought it would be the same as painting on paper (since the paper is taped to a board) but it is different. Part of the problem was getting the angle of my hand in the right position when I used the knife to paint with. That was hard at the bottom of the board where it was sitting on the easel. So some things to work on,
Sorry to hear all the dental problems Misty is having.
