Breaking Up Is Hard To Do

So, after realising that designing around the cracks in the patio wasn't giving us the unified look we wanted we decided to start mostly from scratch. Which meant taking up the cement patio.

Or rather have someone else take up the patio.

It's hard, noisy work (sorry neighbours).

We asked the paving company (Olsen's on Ortega Highway) to recommend an installer and they named Mike Kinney. It turned out to be a great choice.

He and his workers worked hard and did a good job.

Here they have started to take out some of the soil which will be replaced by gravel and sand.

They added metal bases for the patio cover supports.

The gravel layer.

Then the coarse sand layer ready for the pavers.
